Privacy Policy for QRZing
Last Updated: June 18, 2025
This Privacy Policy describes how Saleh AlMulla ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses information when you use our mobile application, QRZing (the "App"), for iOS devices.
1. Introduction
QRZing is designed to help amateur radio operators manage their logbook entries on QRZ.com by interacting with the QRZ.com API.
2. Information We Collect
Our App primarily acts as an interface to the QRZ.com service. We do not collect or store your personal information on our own servers. However, in the course of using the App and interacting with QRZ.com, the following information may be involved:
- Information You Provide Directly to QRZ.com: When you use our App to access or update your QRZ.com logbook, you are interacting with the QRZ.com API. Any personal data that you provide or that is retrieved from your QRZ.com account is handled directly by QRZ.com according to their Privacy Policy. This includes, but is not limited to, your callsign, name, grid location, and all associated QSO (contact) data (e.g., date, time, mode, band, RST, comments). We do not store your QRZ.com login credentials.
- Locally Stored User Credentials: For your convenience and to enable interaction with the QRZ.com API, the App securely stores your QRZ.com username and the API key/authentication token provided by QRZ.com (or generated upon successful authentication with QRZ.com) directly on your device. This data is used solely to authenticate your requests to the QRZ.com API and is never transmitted to our servers.
- Logbook Data (Accessed/Updated): The App accesses your existing logbook entries on QRZ.com and allows you to create or update new entries. This data includes callsigns (of both your station and the contacted station), names (associated with the callsigns), grid locations, and various QSO details such as date, time, frequency, mode, power, RST, and any comments you record. This data remains on QRZ.com's servers.
- Device Information: We do not collect information about your device.
3. How We Use Information
The information accessed or processed by the App is used solely for the following purposes:
- To enable you to view, add, and modify your logbook entries on QRZ.com via the QRZ.com API.
- To facilitate secure authentication with QRZ.com.
- To improve the functionality and user experience of the App.
We do not sell, rent, lease, or share any of your personal information, QRZ.com data, or locally stored credentials with third parties.
4. Third-Party Services
Our App uses the QRZ.com API. Your use of the App is also subject to QRZ.com's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which you should review.
We do not use any third-party analytics services or display any advertisements within the App.
5. Data Storage and Security
- On-Device Storage: The App stores your QRZ.com username and API key/authentication token locally on your device for ease of use. This data is stored using standard iOS security practices (e.g., the iOS Keychain), which provides a secure way to store small bits of sensitive information. The App does not store your QRZ.com logbook data (callsign, name, grid location, QSO data) locally on your device in a persistent manner beyond what is necessary for immediate display and interaction with the QRZ.com API. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
- No Server-Side Storage: We do not operate our own servers to collect or store your QRZ.com data, personal information, or your QRZ.com username and API key. All logbook data is processed directly between your device and the QRZ.com API.
6. Your Choices and Rights
Since we do not directly collect or store your personal information on our servers, managing your data primarily involves your QRZ.com account and the App on your device.
- Accessing, Correcting, or Deleting Your Data: You can access, correct, or delete your logbook entries and other personal information directly through your QRZ.com account settings on the QRZ.com website.
- Revoking App Access: You can revoke the App's access to your QRZ.com account through your QRZ.com account settings (if QRZ.com provides this functionality) or by deleting the locally stored API key and username within the App's settings (if the App provides this option).
- Uninstalling the App: You can stop all data collection by the App by uninstalling it from your device. Uninstalling the App will clear all locally stored data, including your QRZ.com username and API key.
7. Children's Privacy
Our App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will take steps to remove that information from our records.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
